Explore the rich heritage buildings ancient landmarks and colonial structures of the historical city of Malacca a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Malacca is 150 km from Kuala Lumpur and for over a period of 400 years it was colonised by the Portuguese then the Dutch followed by the British before Japanese occupation during World War Two. We visit the Dutch Square that features what is believed to be the oldest-surviving Dutch building in the East Stadthuys Christ Church and the Clock Tower which features the Queen Victoria Fountain.
We also see Cheng Hoon Teng Malaysias oldest functioning Chinese temple founded in 1645 and Porta De Santiago the gate to the Portuguese fortress La Formosa which was built in 1511.
From here we can reach St. Pauls Church Ruins where St. Francis Xavier was once buried. After lunch at a local restaurant there is time to stroll around Jonker Street which is famous for its local antiques boutiques and local handicrafts.
